The word ‘butchered’ came to mind…
I’ve seen the play twice and it’s bloody fantastic. The film however, was atrocious.
I mean, what the actual fuck?
I’m pretty sure half that shit didn’t happen in the book, and it sure as hell didn’t happen in the play.
Like the main character dying? Erm… The whole point of the play is he’s retelling the story so his family can understand.
Sure the kid dies. But because he’s flung from a fucking carriage, not because he tries to kill himself.
Did they just miss the entire point?
